December mock exam: Learner Response

 1) Type up any feedback on your paper (you don't need to write the mark and grade if you want to keep this confidential). If you only have marks and a grade on the paper, write a WWW/EBI yourself based on your scores.

WWW: Joshua-overall sound knowledge for the CSPs in this paper and you are attempting each Q in detail.

EBI: More specific focus on keywords in the Q's to ensure you meet the requirements.

2) Use the mark scheme for this Paper 2 mock to read the answers AQA were looking for. First, write down a definition and example of non-diegetic sound (Q1.1 and 1.2).

-Non-diegetic sound is all sounds generated within the world of the drama.

-An example of non-diegetic sound is when Lyra and Will are talking to each other.

3) Next, identify three points you could have made in Q1.3 - camerawork and the extract. Look for the indicative content in the mark scheme - these are the suggested answers from AQA.

-Low angle of will-helpless, inferior.

-Slow dolly track when sitting=Brings Will's and Lyra's relationship closer to together.

-Faster doing shots when Lyra walks inside the house in the rooms.

4) Now look at Q1.4 in the mark scheme - pick out two points from the mark scheme that you could have included in your answer.

-Excellent analysis of the extract that is detailed and critically engages with the nuanced aspects of the question.

-Excellent, astute judgements and conclusions that are consistently well supported by relevant examples.

5) Focus on Q2 - the 20-mark essay on representations of age and social and cultural contexts. Pick out three points from the mark scheme that you didn't include in your answer.

-Excellent knowledge and understanding of contexts of media and their influence on media products and processes, demonstrated by consistently effective discussion of age representations, in relation to the two close study products.

-Excellent, astute judgements and conclusions that are consistently well supported by relevant examples.

-Consistent appropriate and effective use of subject specific terminology throughout.

6) Turning your attention to Section B, write a definition and example of user-generated content - use the mark scheme to check it.

-material created by those whose main role is as users of media such as newspapers, television, radio, magazines, the internet or web or online systems.

7) Look at Q4 - the 20-mark essay on the power of influencers. Pick out three points from the mark scheme that you didn't include in your own answer.

-Excellent analysis of the product(s) that is detailed and critically engages with the nuanced aspects of celebrity and power.

-Excellent, astute judgements and conclusions which focus on ‘power’ and which are consistently well supported by relevant examples.

-Consistent appropriate and effective use of subject specific terminology throughout.

8) Now look at Q5 - the 20-mark essay on regulation and the internet. Again, pick out three points from the mark scheme that you didn't include in your own answer.

-Excellent knowledge and understanding of the theoretical framework, demonstrated by consistently effective discussion of the debate about regulation of social media, video games and the internet.

-Excellent, astute judgements and conclusions that are consistently well supported by relevant examples.

-Consistent appropriate and effective use of subject specific terminology throughout.

9) On a scale of 1-10 (1 = low, 10 = high), how much revision and preparation did you do for your Media mock exam? Be honest here - it's a good chance to think about how to approach the next set of mock exams.

-4/10:the reason for why I've set this score this low is because I could understand the content well but when it came to exam times the wording of the questions caught me of guard. The problem wasn't me not knowing the topics because when studding the different topics of media it was really easy for me to understand and pick up the different media term within it.

10) List three key things you want to revise before the next mock exams in February (e.g. particular CSPs, terminology, exam technique etc.)

-Focus on keywords in the question.

-More specific facts ands terminology so get better marks.

-Go over missing facts in the different blogs to fill in the the stuff I forgot.
